Maison du Bailli

Description

The building flanked by a watch tower bears testament to the height of Boucieu in the 15th and 16th centuries after Philippe le Bel founded a royal court of justice for the Upper Vivarais area (bailiwick). Closed to the general public. The Maison du Bailli is listed as a Historic Monument.
The Bailiwick Court judges all cases of high justice (crimes), royal cases (disputes between lords or between the lord and the king), and judges on appeal.
