European Heritage Days – “Discover the Vivarais Railway”

Description

Follow your guide and discover the railway heritage of the Vivarais Railway! Climb aboard an MV train, exceptionally hauled by the T 66 diesel-electric locomotive, and enjoy unique photo stops inaccessible by road. Full-day trip* including the return journey from Lamastre, with stops for railway photographers.

Reservation required only – limited number of places – pets are not allowed.

Participants are welcomed at Lamastre railway station from 9 a.m.
9:30 a.m.: Departure from Lamastre
11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.: Lunch break in Boucieu-le-Roi (meal not provided)
Welcome by volunteers from the SGVA association and visit to the association’s site (vehicles currently undergoing restoration)
1:45 p.m.: Arrival in Saint-Jean-de-Muzols
2:30 p.m.: Departure from Saint-Jean-de-Muzols for the return journey
Around 5 p.m.: Arrival in Lamastre

On both the outward and return journeys, several stops for photographers will be organised, in addition to crossings and overtaking manoeuvres involving commercial services (railcars and steam trains) at intermediate stations.

Some photo-stop locations will be determined according to the weather. Participants must be physically fit enough for the activity and wear suitable hiking-style footwear. They must follow the safety instructions given by SNC CFV staff. Please wear suitable clothing; the programme will go ahead even in rainy weather. The trains have no toilets and no heating.
