Description
You don't have to look far to understand the tone of CACTUS! By naming his new show CACTUS, Elie Semoun sets the tone: it's going to sting!
Over the past 30 years, the comedian has established himself as one of the most incisive and delightfully offbeat comedians on the French scene. His style, a blend of finesse and audacity, has inspired many generations of artists.
For his eighth show, Elie Semoun makes a slight U-turn: stand-up comedy now occupies a more prominent place, a novelty for him. But make no mistake, CACTUS remains true to his taste for characters. Among the gallery of his new monsters, you'll come across Jean Abdul, who will be opening for him, a son who takes his father to visit an EHPAD, Xavier the motor-disabled man who introduces his wife to his mother, a father confronted with his son's transition, a racist karate teacher, and a biting look at sexual harassment and religion.
With CACTUS, Elie Semoun offers us a vision of our society that's both profound and light, between violence and inspiration, where the themes of intolerance, taboo and injustice are tackled without fudging, but always with that incisive touch that characterizes him.
