Musica Poetica and the Madrigal Choir join forces to introduce you to the purity of Bach's cantatas. Johann Sebastian Bach composed his first cantatas in Mühlhausen and Weimar between the ages of 22 and 30. Here is a selection of three masterpieces from this period—works that combine compositional perfection with profound expression, ranging from despair and tears to the most radiant joy, and showcasing the young composer's genius. The performance features an ensemble of musicians passionate about Baroque music and the works of J.S. Bach.
Program: Cantatas BWV 4, 12, and 131, and Motet BWV 118, featuring the Atelier-Chœur.
